Rhodes and of Malta
This strategic meeting brought together representatives from Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean. Entities such as UNESCO, Brazil's Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the European Commission and ANPD also participated.
We celebrate the friendship and cooperation between the Order of Malta and Canada. The occasion held special significance since our Grand Master is Canadian, further strengthening the ties between the Order and Canada.
Today, a Brazilian delegation visited the headquarters of our Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta. The headquarters is located at the historic Piazza Cavalieri di Malta, in Rome.
The participation of the Embassy of the Order of Malta in Brazil in these events reaffirms our commitment. We strengthen diplomatic relations and recognize the rich history that unites Brazil and Central Europe.
Today, the Church celebrates with joy the election of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. He assumes the role as our new universal Pastor. Leo XIV possesses profound theological wisdom and a long trajectory of humble service to faith. He brings a history of dedication to social justice.
The Cruz de Malta, operational arm of the Order of Malta in Brasília, provided funds for Casa Bom Samaritano, after the United States of America (USAID) suddenly cut the project funding and the refugee shelter in Brasília faced a difficult period. The prospects indicated closure, since the available funds would keep the shelter operating only until the end of February.
The Order of Malta Association of Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo organized the action that included distribution of basic food baskets and toys. We brought joy and hope to many families in the region.
December 2024 marked the inauguration of a new Hospital Boat in Manaus (Brazilian Amazon). The "Pope Saint John XXIII" now serves as the third vessel in the fleet. Measuring 62 meters in length with four floors, it offers 10 beds and a nursing station.
The Embassy of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Brazil had the honor of celebrating a historic investiture of 12 new members of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta.
