The Ambassador

Franz Erwein Georg Graf von Schönborn-Wiesentheid, born in Würzburg (Bavaria, Germany) on May 15th, 1974, is an accomplished entrepreneur and diplomat. He is married and the father of two children.

Growing up between Brazil and Germany, Franz studied business administration at Passau University (Germany) and the Helsinki School of Economics (Finland) and holds an MBA from Business School São Paulo.

He is a partner in several companies related to payments, foreign exchange, finance, AI, and technology. Between 2015 and 2018, he successfully sold two companies: an online payment processor and a direct marketing firm, both of which he founded and developed.

Before his entrepreneurial ventures, Franz held positions at multinational corporations, including MAN Group (Germany), Creditanstalt Group (Austria), Deutsche Bank (Australia), and Telefônica (Brazil).

Franz serves as Director of Payments at ABCOMM (Brazilian E-commerce Association), sits on the boards of Fundação Visconde de Porto Seguro and Mozarteum Brasileiro, and is a permanent member of the Risk Management and Audit Committee at Hospital Alemão Oswaldo Cruz.

Since 2020, he has served the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, consistently demonstrating a commitment to humanitarian efforts and fostering international cooperation. In 2022, he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Brazil, where he represents the Grand Magistry before Brazilian authorities.
